Lost So Many

Not simple to obtain
Not simple to hold
But simple to be thankful
The voices of our loved ones are the single most important formative influences all our lives. They have the power to heal, to reassure, to re-center and ground us and to trigger our deepest memories, not accessible without those triggers. All this recollection, and feelings of connection and living, can help reduce our intense stresses of living and also enhance the quality of our wellbeing by allowing us to intensely feel what is important in our lives and what is ours to value and hold as positive. We hold all this living in our minds, and our loved ones’ voices bring it forth.
Our minds capture and retain incredible levels of detail that are associated with the voices of those we care about most. It does not matter what your background, education or socioeconomic status is, we all operate at the same stunningly precise level for deeply caching, in our minds –from the womb and our birth on, the fine details of living and our personal connections to that living. We all, and ironically so, all share the amazing inability to recall the breadth of that information without having seeding/catalytic details to allow the brain to give those fine details emotionally back to us.
When our loved ones pass away, are gone for any reason or just walk out of the room, we cannot recall those details or even know they exist to such a nuanced extent. If we have a sample of their voice, an amazing thing happens, our minds are able to use those familiar details to reconstruct endless memories and nuances of living and personal bonds. The more vivid the details of those voice samples, the more robust those memory and comforting experiences can be. If there is access to those voices any time one wants or needs those memories and comforting feelings, then one can use those recording when, where and how they need them.
Therefore, armed with the extraordinary details of living and relevance deep in our brains and with exceptional recordings of our loved ones' voices to trigger those memory details, we have a better chance to self-cope with the stresses of life as well as simply and meaningfully enhancing our lives with those treasures of memories and comforting feeling for our entire lives, when otherwise they would have been lost, as inaccessible, locked deep in our minds.
Images, smells, all sounds, touch, and their combinations are also powerful stimulants of deep feeling and memories and the comforts they can bring. However, the voices of those who formed us, and for whom we have the fundamental connections of life, are undeniably the most profound and transformational personal influences we have; and therefore, have the greatest ability to give us access to our deepest positive life-affirming memories and connections.
The truly astounding thing is that even though this process in the mind of triggering feelings and grounding reassurances is infinitely complex, we simply have to hear our loved ones’ voices to take advantage of the gift. Ironically, because of the way our minds work, recording is a very simple concept to take advantage of our amazingly high-level coping and living abilities.
If we make sure that we will always be able to hear the voices of those important to us, as we do by recording their voices, then when we need or want to do so, we simply have to listen to those recordings any time we wish -any time in our lives, to realize we will never really lose those we hold dear, as active positive influences on our being.
Recording the voices of our loved ones is a wonderfully purposeful thing to do, and it also builds important bonding connections and memories. Yet, listening to those recordings, hearing the clear voices of our loved ones, is so fundamental to our existence that we change inside, as our minds relax, realizing –consciously or not- that whether our loved ones are sitting right next to us, separated from us, or have passed on, we have preserved the ability to have those feeling forever.
The recording sessions are purposeful activities that always result in a good time for all the participants, even if, because recording like this is unfamiliar to most, they came in not knowing what to expect.
